Tambourine

Rhythm Tech Pro Series

T-D-S | The Drum Site
Rhythm Tech Pro Tambourine w/ Stainless Steel Jingles
Manufacturer Rhythm Tech
Model / Series Pro Tambourine
Description

The "Pro" represents a major advancement in the art and science of percussion, and is destined to become the new professional standard for sound, feel and performance. This model features advanced synthetic materials and computer-assisted design and manufacturing methods to create a completely redesigned more ergonomic handle, more efficient jingle placement, improved balance, as well as a resilient over-molded GLS playing edge that feels incredible. Overall, the instrument has light, responsive, comfortable feel.

The Handle - ahh, no pain. Completely redesigned by two design firms that specialize in designing handles and grips for sporting goods, medical devices and tools to develop a uniquely easy-to-hold tambourine handle. The shape, width, length and circumference of this handle were designed using over 200 measurement points of eight different human hand sizes and proportions. The handle feels great, but also controls the instrument better so that less effort is required to play.

The over-molded soft playing edge feels great. The material is molded onto both sides of the frame along with the handle to form a seamless permanent playing surface. There are no pin-holes coming through the edge, which creates a playing surface that provides unparalleled comfort for high volume situations while allowing more subtle control for softer ones. The edge also makes finger rolls easier than ever to execute.

The jingles are made of stainless steel, a harder more durable material that has a truer fundamental pitch. That means less overtones and longer sustain. These jingles have more volume to really cut through. The layout of these jingles are grouped on the arc to react faster so that you get more sound with less effort. The Pro is also available with traditional brass jingles for a deeper chunkier sound that sounds great for recording.

Balance Point - a small change makes a big difference. The center of gravity of the instrument has been adjusted to feel lighter and more responsive. The actual shape was modified to move the handle closer in towards the center. In addition the profile of the new handle brings your fingers to a point just past the geometric center. This allows you to "drive" the instrument with less moment of force. That's what makes it feel more responsive.

The Pro is packaged in it's own polypropylene case, designed to protect the Pro when it's bouncing around a trap case or trick bag filled with all your other essentials. Inside there is also a compartment that will hold an Eggz Shaker, or other small easily lost accessories.

The holes in the corners of the Pro are there so it can easily slip onto the new ProMount, which will fit onto a DSM2 or DSM Quad Mount (or any other device that attaches to a stand and accepts a standard 3/8" rod), and allows the Pro to slip on and off so that it can instantly be converted to a mounted tambourine.
