| Background |
Gauger Percussion was formed in 1980 with the development of their
RIMS® concept. Since, almost every major drum manufacturer has either
incorporated genuine RIMS® isolation mounts, or has designed a similar
mounting system of their own. The idea of isolation mounts for tom toms
comes from the concept of traditional mounting hardware "choking" the
resonance of the drum. Isolation mounts in essence cradle the rim of
the drum, instead of utilizing a mounting bracket that is drilled
through the shell of the drum. The RIMS® concept can arguably be
labeled the greatest innovation for the drum set in the later half of
the 1900’s. Gauger also offers floor tom isolation systems, high-end
stick pods, and lug locks. |
